Behind Musea Study
Musea Study started with this idea: to redefine the nature of candles that are there one moment and then gone the next. I wanted to create something that is long lasting yet ever-changing. A multi-functional piece of art.
Small batched and made by hand by myself from clay to mold to candle, I became obsessed with how the nature of the clay gives a sort of imperfect look to the sculpture. Rich textures and details that came through in my molds reminded me of the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi - an appreciation of this sort of roughness and imperfection and the idea that nothing is perfect and nothing is complete
Art that begets art. Choose to keep your candle as-is, untouched for years, or, with each incremental burn, watch the candle transform into a new work of art to inspire and contemplate.
Light a little inspiration in your home - or not. These candles are beautiful both lit and unlit.
